  What a Wallflower Wants

Bad Boys & Wallflowers # 3

By: Maya Rodale

Releasing September 30th, 2014
Avon

Blurb

In the third novel in Maya Rodale’s charming Wallflower series, London’s Least Likely to Be Caught in a Compromising Position finds temptation in a devilishly handsome stranger . . .

Miss Prudence Merryweather Payton has a secret.

Everyone knows that she’s the only graduate from her finishing school to remain unwed on her fourth season-but no one knows why. With her romantic illusions shattered after being compromised against her will, Prudence accepts a proposal even though her betrothed is not exactly a knight in shining armor. When he cowardly pushes her out of their stagecoach to divert a highwayman, she vows never to trust another man again.

John Roark, Viscount Castleton, is nobody’s hero.

He’s a blue-eyed charmer with a mysterious past and ambitious plans for his future-that do not include a wife. When he finds himself stranded at a country inn with a captivating young woman, a delicate dance of seduction ensues. He knows he should keep his distance. And he definitely shouldn’t start falling in love with her.

When Prudence’s dark past comes back to haunt her, John must protect her-even though he risks revealing his own secrets that could destroy his future.

                                                                     Book Excerpt:
Ever since her first season, Miss Prudence Merryweather Payton had known that she would never marry. By her third season, she had made peace with the sad truth that love and marriage were not in the cards for her. Which was fine. FINE.  Truly, she was not bothered in the slightest at the prospect of a long, boring spinsterhood. Why, think of all the needlepoint or charity work she might do. Or so she had thought. But that was before the invitation had arrived. A delicately-worded missive, written in an elegant script inviting her to the 100th anniversary of her finishing school, Lady Penelope’s Finishing School For Young Ladies of Fine Families. With that invitation came the mortifying and heartbreaking truth: no graduate had ever taken more than four seasons to land a husband.
Except for Prudence. Until recently, she not alone in her matrimonial failures—her friends Emma and Olivia were also Wallflowers with hardly any suitors among them. Prudence envisioned a future for the three of them, living happily in a cottage by the sea. She had known this invitation, this ball, this moment would come, but Prudence always thought she’d confront it with her very best friends by her side. But then Emma landed a Duke and Olivia found love with the most unlikely man. She was happy for her friends—truly. No one deserved love and happiness more than Emma and Olivia.
Now Prudence was on her own. The last wallflower.
My review of this amazing book!
Amazing! Brilliant! Daring and Brave!! Maya Rodale’s Wallflower series has been one of my ultimate favorites since the first. She has created her own world with facts and characters that you grow to love. If you loved her Writing Girls series you will be thrilled to know they are mentioned in each of these as well. Maya knows what her readers want and she never fails to deliver. Maya takes a daring step with this new book touching on a subject that was not talked about in the regency era and is still happening today.
Prudence our third wallflower had big dreams of grand gestures and parlors full of suitors for her first season. She dreamed that her first season would be for fun, dancing, flirting, and stealing a kiss or two. What she didn’t count on was being compromised and having all her dreams shattered. Prudence changed her dreams, made them into spending her life as a spinster with her other two wallflower friends. Then they found the romance and love she had wanted long ago. She was very happy for them but this forced her to do things she didn’t want to… Prudence tries to elope with a man she knows will not try to force his marital rights, what she didn’t count on was his cowardice. After escaping being offered as the “sacrifice” for a highwayman, walking miles in the sun and downpour she doesn’t think anything could get worse.
John Roark, Viscount Castleton, has been on a winning streak. All his dreams are so close he can taste them; nothing will stand in his way, except maybe the rain that won’t stop. This is however not the only reason that keeps him stranded at an inn in the middle of nowhere days from London, where he needs to be as soon as possible. John tried to give the soaking wet Prudence a ride but she had turned him down choosing to walk. He should be able to forget her, but she was just too much like the wounded animals he took care of as a child. The need for safety and protection, yet fight and stubbornness was an odd combination. John found he liked those things in a woman, but not just any women, he liked them in Prue. If only he could convince her he could be trusted. He knew she was hiding things but then again so was he; they both had secrets that could either bring them closer or push them apart forever.
You will have to buy this book to find out more about Prudence and her wild ride and see if John Roark, Viscount Castleton’s luck will hold out.

Caught in the Act, Book Two: Independence Falls by Sara Jane Stone

Sara has done it again, her first book in the Independents Falls series was a combination of ‘can’t touch’ and ‘stay ways’. She showed us she could write about forbidden love and how with the right person we can accomplish just about anything. Well she is back again with book two: Caught In The Act. This story is about two people who had their shot and blew it, big time!
Katie has a few things that keep her from being able to find true love: she has three overprotective brothers, lives in a small town, her dates keep hanging with her brothers more than her, and at seventeen she gave her heart away only to have it stomped on. We first meet Katie in Full Exposure and you can see there is a history between her and Georgia’s brother Liam. You see Katie’s brother’s dislike of him and really any guy Katie dates. Liam however feels he deserves their hatred.
Liam was drawn to Katie all those years ago and has kept his distance after what he did to her. He hated himself for hurting her and for how things ended between them, but now he might have a way to make it up to her and her brothers. His best friend Eric, owner of More Timber, has given him the assignment to buy Summers Family Trucking. The family business is having major financial issues and he is hoping to swoop in and help. He didn’t count of the anger this offer would bring out in Katie, she is not about to let her enemy take over her family’s business.
Feeling cornered and outnumbered Katie devices a plan to keep what has been in her family for generations. Her brothers want to sell, but not if they hear the rumors that she and Liam are sneaking around again. The trick is keeping her heart out of the seduction… Liam is thrilled for a second chance and will do anything even if it means losing everything he has worked his whole life for. Sometimes Love is a risk worth fighting for, even if the cost turns out to be the one person you can’t live without.
Sara Jane Stone has a way of writing this book that surprises the reader, events and ideas are so creative that you can picture the scene unfolding. Liam and Katie have a messy past and a complicated present. As you read you see how stubborn they both are and wonder how on earth this will all turn out. You will love her new book and keep your eyes open for book three Hero By Night coming out in January 2015. Happy reading and remember to keep dreaming!

Full Exposure Book One: Independence Falls

FullExposure
Sara Jane Stone is an Avon Romance writer I recently discovered during a live chat through Avon’s Facebook page. She is amazing, her talent for writing passionate scenes, heartwarming love, and describing the nature around you engages your mind fully. Sara has a great deal of knowledge and depth that she brings to her characters to make this book come alive and feel very real. There is romance, loyalty, strength and even a level of cute she intertwines in the pages. I was unable to put the book down even with the gift of at least ten new books I received recently. I had to finish it and know if they would come together or not. A great start to this series!
Georgia has survived the worst, she has watched people die, struggled to survive herself, and now vows to live to the fullest. After her time in Afghanistan Georgia comes back to her safe haven to truly live her life and feel every sensation. Her brother and his best friend are being helpful and supportive of her near death stunts but she has saved the best for last. Georgia has been drawn to her brother’s best friend Eric since she was young; she followed after the boys as often as she could. Always hoping Eric would see her as a women and not just a friend. As they grew up their friendship had grown too, now she lives with him as the nanny to his nephew. Georgia knows it now or never… she has to make her move!
Eric knows Georgia is still suffering nightmares, PTSD, and even more from her time in the Army. He promised her brother he would watch over and keep her safe. He gave her a job to keep her busy and help her to stay grounded. She is amazing with his nephew who has grown attached to her, but then again who wouldn’t? Georgia was gorgeous, smart, brave, and very determined to live her life on her terms. Eric has loved her and wanted her since junior high, but he also knows the difference between right and wrong. It was right to take in his nephew after his sister died, it was wrong to touch his best friends sister. Georgia had always been a strict ‘hands off’ policy for his; this didn’t stop his brain from conjuring fantasies of her though. All goes according to his planes; Eric is handling his baser instincts until Georgia drops her towel. He is only a man after all…
You will have to read this titillating book to find out if Eric and Georgia can put their fears and pasts aside to finally discover the one thing worth fighting for-Love!
