BLOG TOUR: Just One of the Groomsmen by Cindi Madsen

About the Book:

Addison Murphy is the funny friend, the girl you grab a beer with—the girl voted most likely to start her own sweatshirt line. And now that one of her best guy friends is getting married, she’ll add “groomsman” to that list, too. She’ll get through this wedding if it’s the last thing she does. Just don’t ask her to dive for any bouquet.
When Tucker Crawford returns to his small hometown, he expects to see the same old people, feel comfort in the same old things. He certainly doesn’t expect to see the nice pair of bare legs sticking out from under the hood of a broken-down car. Certainly doesn’t expect to feel his heart beat faster when he realizes they belong to one of his best friends.
If he convinces Addie to give him a chance, they could be electric…or their break-up could split their tight-knit group in two.
Hiding the way he feels from the guys through bachelor parties, cake tastings, and rehearsals is one thing. But just as Tucker realizes that Addie truly could be the perfect woman for him—he was just too stupid to realize it—now she’s leaving to follow her own dreams. He’s going to need to do a lot of compromising if he’s going to convince her to take a shot at forever with him—on her terms this time.

Excerpt

Tucker cautiously wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and when she didn’t shove him off, the way she’d done a few times back in the day when he’d dared to console her, he curled her closer. “Don’t worry. I’ll take it to the grave.” “I’m not sure I can chance that. I might have to push you off the back of the boat now.” “Sure. If I didn’t know how to swim, that’d be a fail-safe plan.” “Maybe the gators will get to you first,” she quipped, only then she tucked her feet up, like she’d remembered there might be a few of the toothy beasts slumbering in the water, despite the fact that they rarely saw any on this side of the shore. She swiped a tear off her cheek and sniffed. “I hate feeling weak. Hate feeling like a girl. Even though I’m apparently not one.” “You’re not weak. I’ve seen grown men cry in my office, so I don’t think it’s a girl or guy thing.” “I notice you didn’t admit to crying yourself.” He puffed out his chest. “Well, that’s because I’m far too macho.” The last few times he’d gotten choked up had been over his dog having to be put down, his grandfather passing away, and—even though he’d done his damnedest to hide it—the day he’d said goodbye to his friends before leaving town. The girl at his side was there for all those instances, but his conflicting feelings for her made it hard to admit to ever being anything but strong. Like not saying it aloud would make her forget bike wrecks and scraped knees that’d brought tears, the times in his life he hadn’t stood up for other people when he should’ve, or any other time he’d been less than strong. Just do it, Crawford. Find a way to make her feel better, the way she always did for you. “There were cases, ones where I was fighting for a worthy cause, or for someone who truly deserved a break, and it didn’t matter how much research I put in, or how hard I fought, I’d still lose ’em. That made me feel weak and helpless.” Those “cases were why he’d originally chosen law, but they’d been so few and far between. “So did the cases where we had to defend people knowing full well they were guilty.” He gazed out over the lake, unable to look at her as he admitted the next part. “I missed home and all of you guys, but I quit over more than that, and more than the long hours.” His fingers drifted down her arm, and her face tipped up, but he kept his eyes on the rippling reflection of the moon in the inky black water. “One guy walked on a stupid technicality because of something I’d found in the police report—some procedure the cop didn’t follow. Everyone at the firm was celebrating, and I was sick over it. The guy deserved to go to jail, and no amount of money seemed worth ignoring that fact. It was the final straw.” Addie covered the hand he had on her arm with hers. “Most people wouldn’t have been able to walk away from the money.” “I don’t know about that. Half the time I still think I was an idiot to quit like that with no backup.” “If it makes you feel any better, I’m glad you’re here.” He met her big brown eyes and smiled. “It does.” “I’m sorry you were so unhappy. I should’ve checked in more.” “I should’ve told you that I was struggling with my job. But that’s neither here nor there. Now I’m on a different path, and all’s I’m saying is, it’s not weak to care about things. You’re not a robot.” He renewed the drag of his fingers on her arm, and her chin lifted another inch or so, some of the sorrow fading from her features. He tried not to think about how close her lips were to his, how he felt each one of his heartbeats, and how having her tucked against him made his entire body hum. Despite knowing better, he couldn’t help the words that slipped out, or that his dipped when he said them. “It also hasn’t escaped my notice that you’re a girl.”

MY REVIEW:

Damn, how could he resist such a solid Star Wars reference? Not that he wouldn’t make her work a little harder for it. “What’s in it for me?”
She made an offended noise. “You get to hang out with yours truly,…”

I LOVED Tucker and Addie so much! Their back and forth was so genuine, you could see/feel their connection as friends from the start. It was fun to see when they started thinking about their normal responses having a sexual or flirtation undertone. They way Tucker tries so hard to keep his feeling for Addie in check is both admirable and real, you can see from his past why Addie’s friendship is so important to him. He doesn’t want to skew it up and loose her, I felt so drawn to these too I kept reading wondering how they would figure it all out. It is a romance, so I am not giving spoilers away. Seeing them struggle with everyday things, from crappy jobs, to money issues made the story more real. For you animal lovers there is a really cute puppy in this book that will have you laughing and going “oh no!” a lot.
This book will have you turning pages and confusing your e-reader on reading speed. I highly recommend you grab this book ASAP and curl up in your reading spot to enjoy it!
**I was gifted an ARC copy of this book by the author and AuthorsPal to give an honest review.**

BLOG TOUR: An Accidental Date with a Billionaire by Diane Alberts

About the Book:

Samantha Taylor turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work. Those who know her think she’s the heart of kindness. Those who know her really well know she’s in a never-ending battle to make up for the harm her family’s companies inflict on the world. Which is how she finds herself at a charity bachelor auction of all places.
But oops, she was supposed to bid on her bff’s brother as a favor and accidentally bid on the wrong guy. Sue her for not being able to tell one stick-in-the-mud CEO from another.
Backstage, she goes to tell him not to worry about having to go through with a date or anything, but the oafish billionaire cuts her off dismissively. Looks her up and down, hands her a card with his assistant’s contact details, and reminds her that sex is definitely off the table.
Oh, she’ll call the assistant all right and have her make sure he wears jeans and comfortable shoes and to pick her up at seven a.m. The only “hammering” this guy is going to be doing is at Habitat for Humanity.
Too bad he turns out to be nothing like she expected.

Excerpt:

He might be a man who was known for his ruthlessness in the boardroom, and people might hate him for what he did, but he’d done all that with an honesty he never lost. He believed in honesty in all things, and this woman… She’d hurt his damn pride.

She was actually refusing to honor her date with him.

Why? He wasn’t good enough for her?

He slid his cockiest smirk into place, looking her up and down as if he didn’t like what he saw when he did. He’d been on defense for way too long with Sam. Time to switch the tables on her. “Listen, Ms. Matthews. I came here to help a good cause, and you bid on me. If you only wanted to bid on one person, maybe you should have paid attention to the announcer, so a mistake like this could have been avoided in the first place?”

Her jaw dropped.

“Furthermore, you have my contact information on that card. When you pull yourself together, feel free to call my assistant and let her know where you want me, and when.” He bowed at her, holding her shocked gaze. “Call me. Don’t call me. I don’t really give a damn. Either way, my job here is done. I got a chick to pay for the privilege of dating me for a night to help some sick kids get proper care.”

Every word that came out of his mouth made her grow stiffer with rage. By the time he was finished, her face had flushed red, and she was seconds from spitting fire at him.

Good. He wasn’t too happy with her, either.

“The privilege?” she sputtered.

“Yes. Privilege.” He cocked his head to the side. She was even more beautiful when angry. Shit. “After all, you wouldn’t have bid that much on a pot-bellied balding forty-something year old man in a sweat suit, now would you have?”

She pressed her mouth into a thin line. “Actually—”

He walked past her to the woman behind the table, who watched their exchange with a slack jaw. “Are you the one who takes the payment?”

She closed her mouth, nodding frantically. “Yes.”

Pulling his wallet out, he handed her a wad of cash, not even bothering to count it. “Take this as payment for my date, since she clearly has no intention of paying.”

Samantha gasped behind her. “I never said—”

“Thank you,” the worker said, beaming at him. “But this is too much.”

He bowed. “Accept it as a private donation.”

He might be an asshole, and he might not want to be here, but he’d be damned if he didn’t bring in the money he was supposed to for this charity. If Samantha refused to pay for him, then it was obvious he would have to do it himself. At least it got him off the hook for a date he hadn’t wanted to go on in the first place.

Samantha touched his arm. “Mr. Jennings—”

“No need to thank me. It’s done.” He pulled free of her touch. “I’d like to say it was nice meeting you, Ms. Matthews, but…?”

With that, he spun on his heel and left.

After all, he’d been raised to stay quiet if he had nothing nice to say.

He only made it a few steps before a hand on his arm stopped him. “Excuse me, Mr. Jennings—”

“Taylor,” he corrected, facing her again. She let go of him, but somehow, he still felt her touch through his clothing. “My name is Taylor.”

“Mr. Jennings,” she said, stressing his last name as she crossed her arms. “I don’t know who you think you are, but I assure you that you’re not worth the kind of money I paid for you.”

He cocked a brow. “You didn’t pay anything for me, Samantha. I paid for myself—and personally, I feel I got a hell of a bargain.”

REVIEW:

Samantha and Taylor were phenomenal together! This book had me laughing and yelling in my head and sometimes out loud. I wanted to shake both characters and hug them, LOL yes, it is that good. You will love the back and forth they give one another and the lesion to not judge a gorgeous rich man by his money. Taylor thinks he always must stay in control; he never lets his emotions or temper out of check. That is until he meets Samantha, all she wants is him to let loose a bit, not have to manage every situation. Yet even with the differences between them they are explosive in the one area that they can agree on, Bed. This leads to more time spent together on their “first date” because neither want a second. To understand this fully you will need to buy the book and read it. I will say this is the first book I have read by Diane Alberts and I was not disappointed by any shape or form. So please trust me and go buy the book, curl up in your favorite spot and enjoy Samantha and Taylors story.
