Search and Seduce by Sara Jane Stone

I wish the star scale went above a five because this book would get a ten in my opinion. This is the first Blaze I have ever read let alone one of Sara’s and I was not disappointed. Sara writes with passion and lets us connect emotionally to what her characters are feeling. Search and Seduce is a military romance that gives us a glimpse into the harder side of being involved with a military man. They are dedicated to their country and need a strong woman to stand beside them, willing to make it work.
Our heroine Amy has lost her SEAL husband on duty and her world is turned upside down. His best friend and a man that Amy has known her whole life steps up to help her grieve. Mark is a PJ (Pararescue Jumper), he and his team go into hot zones to get the injured to safety. He has always kept people at arm’s length, never forming lasting connections because he sees on a daily basis the grief that destroys families. He doesn’t want anyone to be left behind if he dies. This works out until he and Amy grow closer as friends, she counts on him and somehow he let her become important to him as well. When his leave comes up Amy asks that he come help her get ready for the grand opening for her  breeding and training military war dogs kennel. He goes and is surprised to realize their friendship has started to sizzle into something more, something neither of them wanted. Amy doesn’t want anything to do with being a military wife or girlfriend ever again, it was just to hard. She never knew if her husband was alive or safe, and the secrets that he kept damaged the trust. Amy and Mark fight the attraction as long as possible but heat like theirs can only become a raging inferno if tampered too long.
I enjoyed this book because the flow was natural and didn’t rush into intimacy, Mark never pressures Amy. He gives her space to figure out what she wants and leans that friendship is not something that can go away even when passion is involved. Sara Jane Stone wrote a book that encompasses he real live struggle we face. That it is a choice we all have to make to follow our hearts and except the person for who they are or let love be stolen by fear.

MY REVIEW:
I saved tis one(even though it drove me bonkers) until I had the last one to read soon after. Cynthia has done something here that for me is amazing. I have never read a book that was split into 12 parts and have it not get old. Series books are on different people so that keeps you reading but this series in all about three main characters. Since the start I have needed to know who Friendly was though I had my suspicions, had to know if Bee was going to follow her head or her heart. Book number 11 gets us closer to the last instalment, which means there is little mystery left. Or so you think. Cynthia has one more left, Bee’s man is acting odd, her mom keeps calling with vague  questions, and her man has yet to TELL her he loves her. I’m pretty sure I know how this will end but an still hooked to find out. This is why Cynthia Sax is a great writer, she keeps us thinking, asking questions, and I for one a sad to see this series end… Yet also excited to find out how Cynthia brings it all to a satisfying close.

“We’ll greet our new cat together,” Hawke assures me. The elevator doors open and we exit, our fingers linked together. “But after Gisele’s settled, I have to leave.” He brushes his shoulder against mine. “I’m personally supervising the venue’s preliminary security scan.”

“Do you usually supervise that?” I slow my pace to a crawl, wishing to spend more time with him.

“No.” Hawke matches my stride, his gait smooth and silent. “Normally, I assign the task to my team.”

But he isn’t tonight. I don’t delude myself that this personal attention is because of me. “There will be a lot of media at the event.”

Hawke’s lips flatten. “The media is the number one reason why our clients need security. If a hostile’s sole goal is to eliminate an individual, he’d avoid an event like this ball. He’d approach his target when she’s out of the spotlight and alone, minimizing casualties and the possibility of being apprehended.”

I consider his words. “I don’t have to worry about that type of hostile.” No one would specifically target me. I’m not that important. “That’s why I was safe in the French restaurant.”

“You were safer in the restaurant,” Hawke corrects. “You’re never completely safe.” He touches the barbed wire tattoo on his arm, a reminder of how random violence can be. “The media and an event like tonight’s ball attract a different type of hostile. They wish to make a statement. They do this by taking out their target and as many bystanders as possible, ensuring coverage of their cause.”

This is the scary world he lives in. I shiver. “That doesn’t happen very often.” I would have seen reports on the Internet, on TV.

“But it does happen.” My military man waves his passcard over our condo’s sensor. “You’ll obey my team tonight, Belinda.” He opens the door. “If they say move, you move.”

“I’ll follow orders.” I step over the threshold. There’s a speck of gravel on my previously cleaned floor. I frown. That shouldn’t be there. I cleaned the condo before I left. No one has entered it since then.

Or have they? I freeze, my body temperature dropping. “Hawke?” I whisper.

“Yes, love?” He moves forward and the door shuts behind him.

I extend my arms, preventing my big man from passing me. “Back into the hallway and call your team.” I keep my voice soft and calm, suppressing the terror swirling inside me. “Someone entered our condo while we were gone.”

Getting Lucky by Jennifer Seasons

MY Review

Can I get an Amen! I have finally died and gone to heaven because we have two of my favorite kind of men wrapped up in one in this book. An Irish Cowboy! I am sure others have written this type of hero but this is the first book I have read with him in it. Jennifer captures the feeling of Dublin, Ireland very well too. When I was there I saw the ruff parts and the privileged areas. Irish men are so sexy and the thing is that most know it too. I liked that even though Sean knows he is hot and that there is a strong passion with Shannon he does try to fight it. He has goals and convictions he has a hard time forgetting. I was hooked on Sean right away but not just because of the Irish heritage, it was his determination to not let the life he had been dealt define him as the man he would always be. That to me shows so much caricature and is very attractive.  Listen to me describe him as if he is real, this should show you that while reading you will be drawn into all the secrets, past and present. You will need to know the people in the town better. This is a series that will leave us wanting more…
Shannon is a strong women trapped in a need to please mentality and I could completely understand why. She was strong because she was able to move away from her family only listening to her father because she wanted to protect her sister and to get approval. I loved watching her grow and become the women she was meant to be.  Shannon is looking for Sean’s secrets knowing she is hiding things herself. She has a hard time thinking around the sexy man and yet can’t wait to see him again. Lies, secrets, and danger await in this page turner. You have no doubt read the blurb and will read the excerpt, now go buy the book because this new series is going to be a favorite I can assure you!

Excerpt:
Shannon glanced at a stand of early June aspens swaying in the gentle breeze and smiled softly. The leaves were such a tender shade of green against the white of the bark; there wasn’t anything like them back home in Saratoga Springs, New York, which was too bad because they were beautiful. The leaves danced on the wind like gypsies around a campfire.
“It’s beautiful here.” She couldn’t help admitting it. Even the sunshine on her face felt amazing. “It’s such a gorgeous day, isn’t it? If this guy doesn’t hire me, I’ll hike back down to the entrance here and meet you. I’ll text you once I know if I got the job.”
Colleen shifted and crossed her arms, her voice oddly neutral when she replied, “Of course. I was planning to wait.”
Shannon narrowed her eyes, suddenly suspicious of her sister’s tone. “Did Dad tell you to leave me here anyway?” It would be so like him to force his will on her even from two thousand miles away. No way did she want to be stranded out in the wilds of the Colorado Rockies with no transportation. It was something like seven miles back into town. Not exactly a leisurely afternoon stroll in the park.
“I’m sorry, Shan, but I have to. You know how Dad is. In his mind, you’ll work harder to secure the job if you don’t have any backup waiting for you. He called it ‘added incentive.’ ” Sympathy and understanding shone in her eyes. They both knew all too well what that meant. “I wish I could stay here to make sure it all goes well, but I can’t. My orders are to head straight back to the hotel and call Dad to receive instructions. Before you ask, I have no idea what he has planned for me.”
Instinctively Shannon’s back went up. Callum Charlemagne was so very fond of his orders. How else best to rule the kingdom, right?
Feeling that old tension settle between her shoulder blades, Shannon began to pace. Some things just never changed, no matter how old she was. His penchant for bullying made her as angry today as it had when she was a teenager.
Colleen placed a hand on her arm, gently stopping her midstride. “He loves us, Shannon. In his way, the best he can. And he legitimately needs your help.” Her fingers gripped tightly for a brief moment and then released, her expression suddenly pensive. “This time we all do.”
That simple truth took the fire out of Shannon. They all needed her to step up. Her family was the majority shareholder in the company, but for how much longer, no one knew. They’d had to borrow against the stock, and there was no money to repay the loan since they had so few clients generating cash flow.
No income, no majority control of the company—no farm.
Why? Because her family farm was owned by the company. And without the security of owning 51 percent of the stock, they could be booted off the place without a moment’s notice. In every way, they and the business—their very future—would be at the whim of the company.
It still grated, knowing that truth. Not only had the business been in the Charlemagne line for generations, the farm was home. It held all their best memories—like how every Christmas her mother made homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting for breakfast and everyone sat in front of the fireplace with their newly opened gifts and chowed down. They all got to eat with their fingers. It was heaven.
And in all actuality, it was the one time of year that her parents really and truly relaxed. They laughed and smiled, and seemed to leave the bad stuff behind—or at least alone. The rest of the year the stress of simply being a Charlemagne and managing everything that entailed wore them down. Christmas was their time to breathe.

Blog Tour For Heart's Desire by T. J. Kline

Blurb

TJ KLINE’s brand new Healing Hart's series kicks off with HEART'S DESIRE

Jessie Hart has a soft spot for healing the broken, especially horses and children, but her business is failing and bankruptcy is looming. The one man who can save Heart Fire Ranch is the last man she wants to take advice from - financial expert Nathan Kerrington - the same man who broke her heart eight years ago.

When he’s called in to save Jessie’s ranch, he sees his chance to win her back - if only he can prove to her that she can trust him with her heart…

MY REVIEW:

Can I just say that T. J. surprised me with how much I liked Nathan in this book! She took a job that is not heard of much in books, Financial Analyst, and made the man HOTT. Nathan comes from a rich, connected family that demands perfection always. He never knows anything else until his roommate in college shows him Heart Fire Ranch and the family that runs it. To his best friend Justin and Justin’s sister Jessie Nathan was going to be around for a while. Then out of nowhere, Nathan moves out of the apartment he and Justin share and doesn’t come around again until eight years later.

Jessie Hart fell head over heels for Nathan when he stayed for the summer and thought it was mutual until he never contacted her. She gave him everything and he had said he would call and be back, eight years had passed and nothing. Now her brother Justin is dogging her about bad finances and insists Nathan can and will help. With no choice, she must face the man who shattered her heart, and trust him with what holds the rest, her ranch.

This was a fantastic mix of lost love, tension, tempers flying, fun and women power in a great story. After reading the first chapter, I was unable to put it down and want you all to know it is necessary read. This series will show you that nothing and no one are ever too far gone to find love and reach even the craziest of dreams. T. J. Kline opens us up to Jessie’s pain of so much more than just lost love. I could tell it was going to get complicated and that there was more to this book than just a love story. Love, romance, passion are all in here but there is also pain, flaws, sadness, and fist flying action. Great combination of everything I love reading in a book T. J., I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
