Risk It All series by Rachel Lacey books .5 and book 1 Reviews...

Blurb:

SNOWED IN WITH A ROCK STAR
Bakery owner Carly Taylor can’t believe her bad luck when she skids down the hill to her last delivery of the day. The roads have turned to ice, and there’s no way she’s getting back out. She’s stuck…with sexy rocker Sam Weiss. But can they find a way to turn a few heated nights under the cover of ice into a promise of forever?

MY REVIEW:

This is the first book I have read by Rachel Lacey and I was excited for the chance. Only a few sentences in and I was invested in Carly Taylor’s story. She loves to bake and is a dreamer, she is kind and quiet. She also has a predictable life until rocker Sam Weiss orders a late night delivery from her bakery. I loved that she didn’t do deliveries yet when Sam asked she was out braving an ice storm just for him. No she did think she would be back in plenty of time to curl up in her warm house, until the icy roads showed her a different outcome. Carly ends up stuck in a hose with the sexiest man as far as she is concerned. Sure she is nervous but she doesn’t think it’ll be so bad. She is not Sam’s type and as soon as the road clear she can head home, no harm done.

Sam and Carly are a lot of fun to read; they are both full of life and know what they want. Sam has his success and Carly is working on hers, you can see the sparks, yet you can see the trouble too. This novella gets you sucked into the town of Haven and makes you want to know more. It is a taste of what might be brewing with the town folk, and the family feel. Rachel does a great job with her descriptions and connections without telling too much. You know it’s a HEA but you don’t know when or how it could possibly happen. That is what makes this book ROCK! So get curled up in a soft spot and start reading!

Blurb:

ONE LITTLE LIE. A WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE.
Gabby Winters has come to Haven to lay low, so she definitely needs to keep her distance from charming, sexy Ethan Hunter. But a misunderstanding leaves Ethan’s grandmother thinking the two are falling in love – and Ethan and Gabby play along rather than break her heart. But soon their pretend relationship is feeling all too real…

MY REVIEW:

Wow, talk about a great deal going on and yet the story flows naturally. Gabby Winters is a vaster in Haven, NC for the summer. Her life back home took a turn for the worst and she needed a break, a chance to catch her breath. Rachel Lacey did a beautiful job writing Gabby as a smart, strong women, even though Gabby couldn’t see herself that way. I loved watching Gabby grow in this book with the help of not just one person. A lot of times in romance novels it is only the hero that can bring the heroine out of her shell. Here we see Gabby making friends with people in the town who show her what she has been missing.

Our hero is hot, strong willed, stubborn yet kind, open hearted to those in his “family”. Ethan Hunter has not had an easy childhood and we see he holds a lot inside. He truly needs family and friends by his side. When he meets Gabby she takes him by surprise. It’s one of my favorite parts because Ethan, big man around town, god’s gift to women, gets shot down. Gabby isn’t in town to be in a relationship or a casual fling, so she tries to keep her distance from Ethan. The problem is that she really likes Dixie, Ethan’s grandma. Dixie gets it in her head that Ethan and Gabby are dating, to make her happy they play along. Gabby doesn’t like it but she can’t stand the thought of Dixie unhappy. She also figures she can keep her heart and body under control with a few rules. Ethan is a gentleman; he is fine with the rules and besides Gabby will leave at the end of summer, no big deal.

I love Dixie and the other town folk in this book, Rachel opens our ‘town scope’ in this book. We get to meet Ethan’s best friends who are more like brothers, Dixie and her book club, other business owners and see the town as a whole. I really could see in my mind people bustling around town, saying hi and grabbing lunch. Town drama and harmony, the town of Haven is one I would like to jump into and have a look around. Who knows I might find my HEA J. Go ahead and grab this book or ereader copy now, book two in this series is coming out soon and you will want to be caught up!
